About CatchNow
Find your next fishing spot with better information at your fingertips
CatchNow is a New Zealand fishing map that helps you find fishing spots and understand what the conditions are like before you head out.
Choose a location on the map and CatchNow brings together the information that matters for fishing — helping you decide where to fish and whether the conditions are favourable right now.
Fishing is affected by many things, and no calculation can predict whether a fish will bite.
Local conditions can change quickly, so always consider weather, water conditions, access, safety and current fishing regulations when planning your trip.
CatchNow — find a place, check the conditions, and decide when to fish.

What does the CatchNow Score mean?
The CatchNow Score is a simple way to understand how favourable the current conditions may be for fishing at a particular location.
Instead of making you compare several pieces of information yourself, CatchNow analyses the available conditions and combines them into an easy-to-read score.
A higher score means the current conditions are potentially more favourable for fishing. A lower score means some of the conditions may be less favourable.
The score is a guide — it does not mean that you will or won't catch fish.
What information is considered?
CatchNow considers several environmental factors that can influence fishing conditions.
- Time of day
- The relationship between the current time and sunrise or sunset, when fish activity can often change.
- Weather
- Current weather conditions, including factors such as wind speed and wind direction.
- Tide
- For tidal locations, CatchNow considers tide conditions and how strongly the tide affects that particular location. Inland and non-tidal locations are treated differently.
- Moon
- Moon information can also contribute to the assessment of fishing conditions.
CatchNow combines these factors to provide a simple score while still allowing you to look at the individual conditions yourself.
